PUBLIC NOTICE
RIGHT TO EDUCATION TASK FORCE
(A UNIT OF SOCIAL JURIST)
The Social Jurist has constituted "Right to Education Task Force" which has started functioning from Monday, October 10, 2005. The salient features of the RETF are: -
(1). Its objectives are two-fold:- (a) Every child in full time formal school and (b) Complete ban on child labour in all its forms.
(2). It shall operate from the office of the Social Jurist, i.e. 478-479, Lawyers Chambers, Western Wing, Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi-110054 during 9.00 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all days except Sundays and Holidays. (3). It shall receive through telephone, post and in person complaints in regard to any violation of right to education of the children which includes, absence of school facility near the residence, absence of basic physical and academic infrastructure including barrier free environment for children with disabilities, denial of admission to the children including children with disabilities, absence of quality education, over crowded classrooms, denial of any other basic facilities, harassment of students/parents, illegal monetary demands, pushing-out of students, existence of child labour in any of its forms, denial of admission of children of weaker sections under 25% freeship quota by the public schools which have been allotted public land and running of separate school/classes for the children of weaker sections etc. It shall also visit different areas and record complaints of the aggrieved students/ parents.
(4). It shall deal with the complaints received or recorded by advising the aggrieved students/parents, taking up with the concerned authorities and, if required, file cases in the High Court or the Supreme Court free of cost.
(5). It shall welcome volunteers from the Civil Society to come forward and join the Task Force Team to contribute to strengthen its work.
