Order dated 05.09.2009 of High Court of Delhi appointing “Education Volunteers”

Lakhs of children in Delhi are being deprived of meaningful education despite lakhs of rupees being spent out of the public exchequer and valuable judicial time being spent by the courts. To monitor the position in the schools being run in 12 zones of the MCD and 9 districts under the Directorate of Education, Hon’ble High Court has appointed education volunteers to render meaningful assistance to the courts

Report of meeting of MCD with Social Jurist team

Mr. Vijendra Gupta, Chairman Standing Committee convened a meeting of MCD on 21-07-2007 at New Delhi. A team of representatives from Social Jurist led by Mr. Ashok Agarwal was also invited in the meeting. The participants of the meeting included Chairman and 5 members of Education committee of MCD, Additional Commissioner (Edu.) MCD, Director of Education MCD, Additional Directors, Deputy Educations Officers and other officials.

 

25% reservation of weaker sections in public schools : Pursuant to the Delhi High Court Orders, the Chief Minister of Delhi constituted two committees i.e. Janki Rajan Committee and Krishna Kumar Committee. On 18.05.2006, Delhi High Court was informed that both the committees have submitted their reports/recommendations to the Delhi Government. The High Court has directed the Delhi Government to submit their response on these reports in the High Court before the next date of hearing. The next date of hearing has been fixed for 21.7.2006.
